Bertie

Bertie arrived with a classic case of "Balloon Syndrome", a condition that we rarely see and definitely a first for our vet. He was blown up like an enormous balloon with a leg stickling out of each corner due to inhaled air escaping under his skin.

Our vet found a jaw injury that might have contributed and after expertly drawing off all the air with huge syringes, Bertie was reduced to a tiny scrap weighing 245 grams. I was assured that it was still Bertie but he needed careful nursing until the jaw had healed.

After one week of Puppy Chum "soup" from a bottle, which he absolutely loved, and three weeks of soft food, Bertie's jaw had mended and he was on the way to complete recovery.
